Twinkle Twinkle

Inspiration & Title

This was going to be a contest entry in contest for “Once Upon A Rhyme” but I didn’t get it completed in time. Oh well.

I tried to interpret my favorite childhood rhyme, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” (as if the title weren’t obvious) which my mom used to sing to me as a child when she’d tuck me into bed at night. She sang a few other rhymes but this was always my favorite as I was falling asleep.

I didn’t know where to go with this piece so it just sort of ended up this way. I loved the female stock provided by and the motion in her pose. The minute I saw it I knew it would be perfect for this manip but I did struggle to come up with a solution to the actual “star” that needed to be in the image. I realize I put more than 1 star because it looked better and I always had lofty dreams so I wanted to reach for more than just 1 star when I was a kid.

Made using PaintShop 9. This is the manip I did after getting 2 simple but amazing tips on doing manipulations! I really want to thank both of the artists for it.

Thank you (amazing manipulator with a wonderful style) who enlightened me on using mask layers. OMG What a difference. Now I can mess up all I want and not have erased or lost any of it. This has got to be the BEST advice any manipulator can ever be given. It’s totally simple but highly effective. Thank you Kaycee!!

Thanks also to (brilliant manipulator whom everybody must be aware of by now with her amazing tarot series and others) who told me to zoom in closer than I was. It made a world of difference in the clean edge of the lines now. I always felt I had to see the whole image at a time to do extractions but I’ve learned the power of zoom now. Thanks Heidi!
