New Journal Layout

NEW JOURNAL

Hi all! I am just testing out my new journal layout. It has been over a year since I last changed the design so it was well overdue!!

I HATE SUMMER

The heat sucks! Don't you agree?! I am definitely an autumn-winter girl. It's nice to have some warmth, true, but too much heat just kills me.

Here are some features from my faves!

In Memory of my cat Sebastian

WTF is up with DA and the journal views being all messed up? Makes me look like I'm CSS illiterate! lol I had to delete my floating menu at the right to make the journal normal. It has something to do with the CSS and the position: absolute but could I find ANY help on DA at ALL about it? Fuck no!

I have a few manips I completed a while back that I never uploaded yet. Too much going on. I mean, I haven't updated my journal in a year! I won't make any promises that they'll get up soon as I have a lot going on at work and planning on moving in the next few months.

Sad news :( ... I had to put my kitty Sebastian down this past weekend. He was 16 and had a few medical problems but we figure he had lukemia which eventually lead to him not eating for the past 2 weeks and drinking was difficult. It was hard to let him go but he was ready -- proving that to me by laying on the vet's table in his blanket without even moving...very complacent to be there. It was a relief that he wasn't struggling or afraid. Definitely a hard one to let go of though. I will miss his companionship very much. I already do because he used to lay between me and the keyboard all the time with his head on my wrist making typing a challenge! Coming home to an empty place is difficult. :tears:

He was a big, long, grey-and-black tiger-striped tabby with the softest fur I have ever touched, even when he was so ill it remained soft. He had a bit of an attitude with most people, sometimes even me. He'd rub up against someone, take a stroke down the back from them, then when they pulled away he'd strike them with wicked claws. A friend of mine used to say he'd lure you in and then swipe ya. >:) It's true. He kind of did that. I guess it was the tiger in him.

I got him from the SPCA and when I was there looking for the perfect kitty, a woman came in and was eyeing up the same cage. She wanted 2 cats and preferably a boy and a girl. Sebastian was there with his two sisters. At 19 I had the gall to tell the woman if she took him and one of the girls I would not take the other girl because I wanted a male. It worked. I got my boy and she seemed happy to empty the cage with his two sisters. Three happy cats rescued to good homes in a matter of minutes. From then on he'd been a fantastic indoor cat.

Well, okay he did have some issues with being in smaller apartments as I got him when I lived in a tiny bachelor pad with only 1 sliding glass door for the window. It drove him loopy and he was very unhappy with no room and no view. A few years later we moved downtown to a larger 1 bedroom on the 9th floor. One night I had a small window open in the living room and my friend and I nearly shit our pants when we saw him teetering on the ledger of the window sill. :omfg: I managed to save his ass before he fell down 9 stories. :phew: Letting him out onto the patio there was always a worry but he never lept over. Once we moved to a larger 1 bedroom condo on the ground level he was much more happy. He escaped out the patio door once or twice, but I managed to catch him. He tried to get out into the hallway all the time. But, unlike the previous places, he was not scratching the shit out of the carpet at the doors to get out. He finally had enough room. Since then, the places we have lived in (3 more) only got larger and satisfied him even more. Seldom did he spring out into a hallway, or slip into the outside world

Anyway, I won't ramble on forever about my cat but after 16 years of loyalty I think he deserved a little recognition. He was a family member, not just a pet. It was my honor to have had him in my life. I hope he's in kitty paradise! :floating:

:butterflytwo: New Layout
Well I was inspired by the new ID I won (see below) to create a different journal design. I wanted something a little more edgy and sexy to match the ID. I based the colours on what was already in the ID. The width of the dividers/headers seems to not match the width of the header but oh well. I already made each divider and don't feel like adjusting the sizing right now. Maybe I'll get around to it later but knowing me, not likely!!

:butterflytwo: 1000+ Hits
I reached a 1,000 hits a week or two ago now. It's mostly due to getting 2nd Place in the Heartache & Romance contest I entered. The power of word of mouth really proved itself here since I hardly had anybody visiting before. It also shows the popularity of photo manipulations since my regular drawings don't get any attention (I know I can't draw like sooo many other amazing artists but I wish I could!!).

:butterflytwo: New Manipulations

Well I got around to submitting 2 new manipulations.

The first one Twinkle Twinkle was going to be a contest entry but I finished it late on the date it was due and wouldn't have made the deadline.

The second one Wishful In Winter was going to be a contest entry as well and I really put a ton of effort into it but after I entered it, I was crediting the stock providers and going to their sites to thank them and noticed that I messed up! :faint: Somehow I had copied one of the stock pieces into the my working file and renamed it with the wrong stocker! It happened to the be 1 of the required stockers for the contest but it left the piece with 2 stocks from Elandria and none by Stormsorceress (and really no way to add a prominent stock from Stormsorceress in order to fix my error).

C'est la vie! That's what I get for trying to be creative in the middle of the night with insomnia!

:butterflytwo: New Deviant ID

Well I won a prize from in the Heartache & Romance contest held by and and I just received it. I LOVE my DA ID! I think it's totally sexy and considering the few bits of info that Infidem had to go on, I must say she rocked it. It's nice to finally have an ID because I had not gotten around to it myself and I really didn't know what to do with it. So this was great to have somebody else create it.

Thanks
